and the seminal punk bands of the early 80's. As lead singer of The Bags, Alice Bag performed at the Masque, the underground club revered as the epicenter of the L.A. punk explosion. Teresa Covarrubias recorded and performed as lead singer of The Brat - one of the first and most successful East L.A. punk bands. Angela Vogel first began writing and performing as a member of The Odd Squad, yet another acclaimed Southern California punk group. The three women met by chance at a local coffeehouse. Aware of their common musical heritage and the value of their individual experiences, the three were inspired to invent a new musical genre: Chicana feminist pop. Las Tres was born on Valentine's Day, 1992 when Alice, Teresa and Angela debuted this new style in public. They rapidly established themselves as a staple in the LA club/coffeehouse circuit. With seductive pop melodies and lyrics that reflect an inner city edge, Las Tres have distinguished themselves as a formidable, unique, exciting songwriting force. Their music is a blend of ethereal harmonies and wry observations on life and love. -Sean Carrillo |
